In the morning your car will take you to Peterhof which lies on the southern shore of the Gulf of Finland, 18 miles west of St. Petersburg. Your journey to Peterhof will take about 1 hour each way. During this time you will pass through the residential and suburban areas of St.Petersburg and see the apartment houses of the local citizenry. Upon arrival, you will leave your car at the parking lot and walk to Peterhof Fountain Park to admire the numerous fountains and gilded statues of the Main Cascade. You will see the Grand Cascade with the largest fountain of Samson Rending the Jaws of a Lion. You will next tour Grand Peterhof Palace. Built on a hill overlooking the Gulf of Finland, Grand Peterhof Palace was the first summer residence of the Russian Czars to be built in the St. Petersburg area. During this visit, you will view the meticulously restored lavish interiors of the early 18th century filled with original furniture, beautiful chandeliers, and authentic paintings.
